Adult Day Care in Jenkintown, PA: A Local Family’s Guide
2 monthsSarahCare Adult Day Center of Jenkintown is a licensed adult day health center at 261 Old York Road, Suite A51, open Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. We serve families across Montgomery County, Bucks County, and Greater Philadelphia, provide door-to-door transportation within our service radius, staff a registered nurse on site, and accept Community HealthChoices, Montgomery County OPTIONS, Philadelphia Corporation for Aging, and VA benefits.
If you’re looking for adult day care near Jenkintown, here’s what’s actually useful to know about this one — and about the area generally.
Where we are and why the location works
Old York Road is the spine of this part of Montgomery County. We’re just north of the city line, which puts us within a short drive of Elkins Park, Cheltenham, Wyncote, Abington, Glenside, Melrose Park, and Rydal, and an easy run from Northeast Philadelphia and lower Bucks.
That geography isn’t incidental to how families use us. A large share of the people who bring a parent here are adult children commuting into Center City, or working in the Abington–Willow Grove medical and office corridor. Old York Road is already on their route. A drop-off that doesn’t add twenty minutes to a morning commute is the difference between a plan that holds and a plan that quietly falls apart in month three.
Our hours reflect the same logic. Opening at 7:00 and closing at 6:00 is wider than a workday on purpose — it has to absorb a commute on both ends.
What we actually provide
We’re an adult day health center, not a social program. The practical difference is clinical staffing.
- On-site registered nurse during operating hours — medication administration,
health monitoring, and daily observation against a known baseline - Physical and occupational therapy delivered by licensed professionals
- Breakfast, hot lunch, and afternoon snack, with diabetic, renal, and cultural
dietary accommodations - Cognitive stimulation programming — memory work, puzzles, creative projects
- Exercise and movement — chair exercise, walking club, low-impact classes
- Personal care — bathing assistance, salon and nail services, podiatry
- Entertainment, performances, and community outings
- Intergenerational programming
- Door-to-door transportation within our service radius
Who we serve
Adults living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, adults recovering from stroke, adults with Parkinson’s disease, adults with traumatic brain injury or seizure disorders, adults with physical disabilities — including adults under 60 — and older adults who have become isolated and are declining because of it.
We also run a dedicated Korean program, launched in 2025, serving the substantial Korean American community across Cheltenham, Elkins Park, and Abington. Korean speaking staff, culturally familiar meals, and programming designed for the community rather than translated for it. Language reversion is extremely common in dementia, and a center where someone speaks your father’s first language is not a small thing.

What it costs Montgomery County families
Most of our families don’t pay out of pocket.
Community HealthChoices covers adult day services for Medicaid-eligible adults. Montgomery County is in the Southeast zone, served by Keystone First Community HealthChoices, PA Health & Wellness, and UPMC Community HealthChoices. Waiver participants pay no cost-sharing. Enrollment runs through the Independent Enrollment Broker at 1-844-824-3655 or paieb.com.
Montgomery County OPTIONS is the path for families over the Medicaid limits. Administered by Montgomery County Aging and Adult Services for residents 60 and older, with no income requirement to participate — though a sliding co-pay applies based on income and services received.
Philadelphia Corporation for Aging for Philadelphia County residents.
VA Adult Day Health Care for enrolled Veterans, with copays up to $15 a day depending on status.
Long-term care insurance on most modern policies.
For reference on private pay: Pennsylvania averages roughly $2,535 a month for adult day in 2026 — the least expensive formal long-term care option in the state, against about $6,480 a month for assisted living and roughly $11,954 for a semi-private nursing home room.
How to check any center’s license — including ours
Every adult day center in Pennsylvania is licensed by the Department of Aging as an Older Adult Daily Living Center, under 6 Pa. Code Chapter 11. Licensed centers are inspected annually and are subject to unannounced inspections. Operators and all staff must clear criminal history background checks.
The Department publishes a searchable Adult Day Center Directory. Look up any center you’re considering, including this one. If a center can’t produce a current license, that’s your answer.
What we see in practice
Two things about serving this specific area.
The commuter squeeze is the real constraint. Families here are frequently sandwiched — a parent in Elkins Park, a job in Center City, and kids in Cheltenham schools. What breaks these arrangements isn’t usually the care need. It’s the logistics stacking up until something has to give. Our earliest arrival slot and the transportation radius get discussed on nearly every intake call, more than programming does.
This area is more culturally varied than its reputation suggests. Across Cheltenham, Elkins Park, and Abington we serve families from a range of backgrounds and first languages, which shapes everything from the lunch menu to the holidays on the activity calendar.
